The Scandinavian Collaboration Group for Urinary Stones is a subspeciality group under the aegis of The Scandinavian Association of Urology. The group deals with scientific, educational and practical issues regarding urinary stone disease in the Scandinavian region. The group has published guidelines for classification of stones in the upper urinary tract and guidelines for metabolic evaluation and medical management of urolithiasis (see below. The group is active in promoting basic and clinical resarch in the field of urolithiasis in all Nordic countries (see below).

Present scientific activities:

1. Facilitated discharge of stone fragments and reduced residual stone mass during extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) and extracorporeal piezoelectric lithotripsy (EPL) by potassium citrate (Urocit-K®). A double-blind placebo-controlled multicenter study: Data collection in progress.
   
2. Minimal evaluation in uncomplicated urolithiasis: Data management in progress.
